Jonathan Pineno

Experienced Music Teacher

Jonathan Pineno taught in the Lake-Lehman School District in Northeastern Pennsylvania for 34 years. In his first 20 years, he taught grades K-6 general music, elementary chorus, and elementary band while also assisting in the high school band program. At that time he produced seven elementary musicals, started an elementary jazz band, as well as a string program, and worked with a synthesizer ensemble.

For the next 14 years at Lake-Lehman, Jonathan worked with grades 7-12 chorus and also taught 8th grade general music. In addition to being the Jr/Sr High Choral director, he directed, produced, and designed sets and lighting for fourteen musicals and plays.

Jonathan earned his undergraduate music education degree from Mansfield University where he studied violin and clarinet. For his graduate degree he studied clarinet with Anthony Gigliotti, principal clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, for four years and received a Master’s Degree in Clarinet Performance from Temple University. He performed as principal clarinetist for the Oratorio Society of NEPA, Schuylkill Symphony Orchestra, more than fifty NEPA theater orchestras, the orchestra for Paul Sorvino, and twice for the Three Irish Tenors.

His professional theater experience includes performing Dracula in “Dracula,” Sky Masterson in “Guys & Dolls,” Rev. Jonathan Witherspoon in “1776,” Sid Sorokin in “Pajama Game,” Joe Hardy in “Damn Yankees,” and Oliver Hicks in “The Music Man.”

Jonathan started teaching at Misericordia University, Dallas, PA more than thirty years ago and continues to teach Art and Music History and a History of Jazz. He is also currently teaching Humanities: Media and American Culture for the University of Phoenix.
